As the Director of Foundation Relations, Elizabeth is responsible for planning and implementing Alliance for Justice’s fundraising activities with foundations, including maintaining AFJ’s foundation fundraising plan and developing and writing proposals and grant reports. Before coming to AFJ, Elizabeth served as the Assistant Director of Development for Foundation Relations at Hillel International, where she oversaw foundation relations for a $26 million international nonprofit organization. She has held various internships at international organizations including the Centre for Development and Population Activities, International Planned Parenthood Federation, and Council of the Americas/Americas Society.
As a certified English teacher, Elizabeth has spent significant time living and working in Mexico. While in graduate school, she worked as a teaching assistant for professors of both Latin American History and Latin American Geography. She currently volunteers at an organization that provides free English classes for adult immigrants in the Washington, DC community.
Elizabeth holds an M.A. in Latin American Studies from the University of Texas at Austin and graduated with a B.A. cum laude in Anthropology from New York University. She also spent a year studying Anthropology at the University of London in England.
