2013 Summer Semester Internships for Undergraduate and Graduate Students
Alliance for Justice is a national association of over 100 organizations, representing a broad array of groups committed to progressive values and the creation of an equitable, just, and free society. AFJ works to ensure that the federal judiciary advances core constitutional values, preserves human rights and unfettered access to the courts, and adheres to the even-handed administration of justice for all Americans. It is the leading expert on the legal framework for nonprofit advocacy efforts, providing definitive information, resources, and technical assistance that encourages organizations and their funding partners to fully exercise their right to be active participants in the democratic process.
Alliance for Justice (AFJ) offers summer internships for undergraduate and graduate students. Interns may be able to receive a stipend, use the internship to receive academic credit or to fulfill a community service requirement. Interns must be able to work at least 32 hours per week for at least twelve weeks.
Alliance for Justice is a national association of nearly 100 organizations dedicated to advancing justice for all and strengthening our democracy. Alliance for Justice is premised on the belief that all Americans have the right to secure justice in the courts and to have our voices heard when government makes decisions that affect our lives. We identify and address threats to public interest and civil rights organizations, as well as opportunities they can seize. We pool resources and talents, drive strategies, organize campaigns, and mobilize constituencies. Alliance for Justice promotes a bold agenda to realize our Constitution's promise of liberty and justice for all.
Over the course of the semester, interns may participate in a variety of tasks including public education, grassroots legislative organizing, fundraising, event organizing, material development, coalition building and outreach via social networking websites. Interns will also:
Help maintain AFJ’s student and activist contact lists and social media networks;
Draft advocacy and organizing materials;
Assist in the coordination, advertising, and staffing of outreach events, including AFJ’s annual summer intern event;
Attend coalition meetings, Congressional hearings, issue briefings and conference calls;
Provide support to Outreach staff in the form of administrative and research tasks as needed.
We make an effort to give interns the opportunity to develop their particular interests during the course of the summer.
