Director of Outreach

Alliance for Justice is a national association of over 100 organizations, representing a broad array of groups committed to progressive values and the creation of an equitable, just, and free society. It is the leading expert on the legal framework for nonprofit advocacy efforts, providing definitive information, resources, and technical assistance that encourages organizations and their funding partners to fully exercise their right to be active participants in the democratic process.

 

Position

The Director of Outreach reports to the Executive Vice President.  This position will supervise outreach staff and consultants and will be responsible for the following activities: 

• In coordination with program teams, develop, plan and implement outreach strategies and activities for growing AFJ constituencies of lawyers, law professors, nonprofits and foundations. 
• Develop and implement field strategies to support work of organization and coalitions.   
• Develop, plan and manage for online outreach program and manage and grow e-activist program beginning with an activist list of approximately 40,000.  
• Manage a plan for and identification, communication and retention program for Alliance for Justice’s with AFJ’s 100 + member organizations. 
• Attend and organize events including legal conferences, progressive community conferences and AFJ advisory groups.   
• Work with Communications team to develop and manage annual student outreach campaign.  
• Convene meetings and manage coalitions. 
• Other responsibilities as assigned.


Qualifications

• 5- 7 years experience in fundraising, membership, communications, outreach or organizing.  
• 3-5 years experience managing staff, budget and program. 
• Campaign or Hill experience desirable. 
• Foreign language speaker a plus.
