Nan Aron: President
A leading voice in public interest law for over 30 years, Nan Aron founded Alliance for Justice in 1979 and continues to guide the organization in its mission to ensure that all Americans have the right and opportunity to secure justice in the courts and to have their voices heard when government makes decisions that affect their lives. Under Nan’s leadership, Alliance for Justice protects and expands access to justice and the democratic process through its two branches: Justice Program and Bolder Advocacy Initiative. The Justice Program is the nation’s premier source of information on the federal judicial nominations, and continues to lead national campaigns to confirm Supreme Court and federal judges committed to upholding core constitutional values of justice and equality. Bolder Advocacy has trained thousands of organizations to become effective advocates and strengthened the public policy work of thousands more through publications, Internet resources and technical assistance to both grantees and the foundations that fund them. In addition, Nan has also served as Executive Producer for several award-winning films on immigration, courageous judges, and gun violence. Nan is nationally recognized for her vast expertise in public interest law, the federal judiciary and citizen participation in public policy. She is the author of Liberty and Justice for All: Public Interest Law in the 1980s and Beyond and has appeared as an expert in such media outlets as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, USA Today, The Los Angeles Times, The Nation, Vanity Fair and National Public Radio. She is also a frequent guest speaker at universities, law schools, corporations, nonprofits and foundations. Nan has taught at Georgetown and George Washington University Law Schools. » Follow Nan on Twitter: http://twitter.com/#!/NanAron
