Statement of Nan Aron on Judge Greenaway Vote

February 9, 2010, Washington, DC—"Today's vote is an important step forward in filling the 102 vacancies in the federal courts.  A majority of senators from both parties recognized that Judge Greenaway is a highly qualified nominee who has the credentials and experience necessary to serve on the Third Circuit Court of Appeals. Despite the fact that he was reported out of committee unopposed and was confirmed without opposition, he had to wait 235 days—almost eight months—for a final vote. I call on Senate Republicans to cease playing the politics of obstruction and to confirm other pending nominees to ensure that the critical issues facing our country can be addressed. The American people, and our judicial system, deserve better than delay for the sake of delay and political bartering at the expense of our judicial system."
