Statement by Alliance for Justice President Nan Aron on Confirmation of Judge David Hamilton

To the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals

November 19, 2009, Washington, DC—Alliance for Justice commends today's 59-39 vote by the United States Senate to confirm U.S. District Court Judge David Hamilton to the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.  Judge Hamilton is a highly qualified jurist whose nomination was backed by both Indiana Senators Evan Bayh (D-IN) and Richard Lugar (R-IN).

"A majority of senators from both parties recognized that Judge Hamilton's strong credentials and distinguished judicial record make him the kind of highly qualified nominee that America needs to uphold the Constitution and provide equal justice for all," said Nan Aron, President, Alliance for Justice.

"We urge the Senate and the White House to move swiftly to fill the nearly 100 vacancies on the federal courts, so that our overburdened judicial system can address the pressing matters facing our country," Aron concluded.
