December 8, 2009, Washington, DC—Judge Denny Chin is scheduled to have a vote in the Senate Judiciary Committee on his nomination to the Second Circuit Court of Appeals on Thursday, December 10, at 10:00 a.m.

There are currently three vacancies on the court.  Judge Chin was nominated to fill the seat vacated by Judge Robert Sack on August 6, 2009.

"In nominating Judge Chin, President Obama has selected a thoughtful and fair-minded judge.  He has a stellar record on the bench, which indicates that he approaches cases with an open mind, and considers the law and facts carefully before ruling.  We commend the President for picking a nominee with a strong voice who is committed to our nation's core constitutional values," said Nan Aron, President, Alliance for Justice.

Alliance for Justice has produced a report on Judge Chin's background and judicial record which is available online at http://www.afj.org/check-the-facts/nominees/denny-chin.html?templateName=template-30435193 – download a PDF of the report at http://www.afj.org/assets/resources/nominees/afj-chin-report.pdf

Judge Chin is one of four nominees to the circuit courts pending before the Senate Judiciary Committee.  Five nominees are awaiting a vote by the full Senate.
