United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit

On February 24, 2010, President Obama nominated United States District Judge Robert Chatigny to a seat on the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit in Connecticut. If confirmed, Judge Chatigny would fill one the court’s four vacancies. President Obama said Robert Chatigny is a “faithful public servant" who possesses a “first-rate legal mind."

“It is with full confidence in their ability, integrity, and independence that I nominate [him] to the bench of the United States Court of Appeals.”

Connecticut Senators Chris Dodd and Joe Lieberman jointly stated “Judge Chatigny has consistently demonstrated his impressive legal abilities and a profound commitment to the rule of law. We are confident that Judge Chatigny will be an outstanding addition to the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, and we will work together to ensure his swift confirmation by the United States Senate.” Carl Tobias, University of Richmond law professor said, "Judge Chatigny has all the qualities the U.S. seeks in appellate judges: intelligence, diligence, independence, ethics and balanced temperament."
