 <p>The Bush administration nominated Robert J. Conrad, Jr. to serve as a judge on the fourth circuit U.S. Court of Appeals. Since June 2006, Conrad has served as Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of North Carolina. He was confirmed to the court by unanimous consent in 2005. Immediately prior to serving as a judge, Conrad was a partner at Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw. From 1989 to 2004, Conrad worked in the US Attorney’s Office for the Western District of NC. On October 23, 2001, Chief Judge Conrad was confirmed by unanimous consent to be the United States Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina, where he served until 2004. While the United States Attorney, Chief Judge Conrad chaired the Attorney General’s Subcommittee on Gun Crime and Violence.</p>
