Stephen J. Murphy has been nominated by President Bush to a judgeship on the Sixth Circuit, just one year after he was nominated – and unanimously confirmed – to be the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan.  This nomination appears to end a nine-year deadlock over Sixth Circuit appointments which began with successful Republican efforts to block several of President Clinton’s nominees.
