William E. Smith

U.S. Court of Appeals First Circuit

On December 6, 2007, the Bush administration nominated William E. Smith to the First Circuit as a United States Circuit Judge.  Since 2002, Judge Smith has served on the District Court for the District of Rhode Island.  Prior to serving as a district court judge, Judge Smith was a partner at the firm of Edwards & Angell in Providence, Rhode Island, where he concentrated his practice in labor and employment law.
