AFJ Applauds House Judiciary Committee Vote on FAIR Act

September 10, 2019

Washington, D.C., September 10, 2019 – Alliance for Justice President Nan Aron released the following statement today in response to passage of the Forced Arbitration Injustice Repeal Act (FAIR Act) by the House Judiciary Committee:

“Alliance for Justice applauds the House Judiciary Committee for voting the FAIR Act out of committee. Every person deserves a fair shot at justice, but forced arbitration robs consumers, workers, and small businesses of their ability to properly enforce fundamental legal rights and to hold corporations publicly accountable for sexual harassment, wage theft, discrimination, unsafe working conditions, and other wrongdoings. The FAIR Act is a critical step towards addressing a serious injustice that impacts over 60 million American workers and scores of consumers. We’re calling on the full House and Senate to pass the FAIR Act and help bring an end to forced arbitration.”

AFJ has fought forced arbitration for many years. Our award-winning video, “Lost in the Fine Print,” tells the stories of everyday Americans who found themselves trapped in a system that favors large and powerful companies at the expense of hardworking people. Watch the video, hosted by former Labor Secretary Robert Reich, here.
