AFJ Decries Senate Vote Against Impeachment Witnesses

WASHINGTON, DC, January 31, 2020 – Following Senate Republicans’ decision not to call witnesses during the impeachment trial, Alliance for Justice President Nan Aron issued the following statement:

“Senate Republicans confirmed today that they are not conducting a trial; they are conducting a cover-up. There is no legal justification for refusing to hear from witnesses. This vote is a blatant admission that Senate Republicans have forsaken their oath to ‘do impartial justice.’ The Senate was once regarded as ‘the world’s greatest deliberative body,’ but this vote demonstrates that it is neither great nor deliberative.”
