WASHINGTON, D.C., August 26, 2020 – The following is a statement from Nan Aron, President of Alliance for Justice, on the immeasurable importance of the Southern Poverty Law Center in safeguarding and advancing human and civil rights and making our democracy better for everyone.

“For 50 years, the Southern Poverty Law Center’s research and analysis has been an irreplaceable resource for policymakers and advocates.

They have always been on the right side of history—defending those in need against institutional and structural racism. And their focus on fighting hate, teaching tolerance, and seeking justice is paramount to a strong democracy.

The Southern Poverty Law Center continues to be the necessary catalyst for justice, dismantling white supremacy, and safeguarding and advancing the human rights of everyone.

We rely on their research to shine a spotlight on so many of Trump’s judges’ ties to hate groups and their agendas fueled by white supremacy and hatred of those who are different from them.

Few organizations are as important as the Southern Poverty Law Center in providing the caliber of research, resources, and materials they do – all of which are needed now more than ever as the country reckons with systemic racism and violence against Black people and all communities of color.

Alliance for Justice is proud of our longstanding partnership with the Southern Poverty Law Center and look forward to fighting for justice alongside them for the next 50 years.”
