WASHINGTON, D.C., April 7, 2022 – Today the Senate voted on cloture for the confirmation of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court. Consistent with the discharge petition vote earlier this week and the expected final vote, Judge Jackson received bipartisan support for her confirmation.

Sens. Lisa Murkowski, Susan Collins, and Mitt Romney all recognize that Judge Jackson’s experience and credentials make her well-suited to serve on the Supreme Court. While their Republican colleagues catered to QAnon conspiracy theories and other attacks that had little to do with Judge Jackson’s actual record as a judge, these three Republican Senators recognized that she is immensely qualified for the Supreme Court.

Alliance for Justice President Rakim H.D. Brooks issued the following statement:

“With today’s successful cloture vote, we are on the precipice of history. Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson is going to make an incredible Supreme Court justice, and it’s encouraging that senators from both sides of the aisle recognize this. In truth, Judge Jackson deserves 100 votes. But most Republican senators are once again catering to the worst instincts of their party. We thank the three Republican senators who rose above the fray to join all 50 Senate Democrats in supporting one of the most qualified Supreme Court nominees in recent history.  We look forward to celebrating her bipartisan confirmation by the end of the day.”
