Bress Confirmation Adds Anti-Worker Voice to Ninth Circuit

July 9, 2019

WASHINGTON, D.C., July 9, 2019 – Following today’s Senate confirmation of Daniel Bress, President Trump’s seventh appointee to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, AFJ President Nan Aron released the following statement:

“The Ninth Circuit has had a sterling reputation over the years for upholding our Constitution and critical legal protections, and Donald Trump has made no secret of his dislike for this court and his determination to change it. Confirming Daniel Bress adds an anti-worker, anti-consumer voice to that bench — over the strong objections of both California senators, Sens. Feinstein and Harris, who note that this California seat is going to a DC-based lawyer with few ties to their state. It is painful to realize how Trump’s personal vindictiveness toward this court is going to hurt millions of people living and working in the Ninth Circuit, but that is exactly what his circuit makeover will ultimately do.”
