Grant Confirmation Pushes Courts Further Right

WASHINGTON, D.C., July 31, 2018 – Following today’s Senate vote to confirm Britt Grant, Donald Trump’s nominee for a seat on the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, AFJ President Nan Aron released the following statement:

“Britt Grant’s confirmation is one more step in the Trump Administration’s relentless effort to push the federal judiciary toward the hard right. Grant’s record reads like a catalog of ultraconservative causes: advocating against civil rights, women’s rights, health care, and workers’ rights. It’s also notable that she has received praise from the current Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh. This administration’s judicial nominees are all cast in the same Federalist Society, Heritage Foundation mold, and their chief distinction is their absolute adherence to right-wing ideology.”
