WASHINGTON, D.C., January 22, 2019 – Following the White House’s announcement that President Trump will renominate 51 federal judicial nominees who were previously nominated in 2018 but failed to be confirmed, AFJ President Nan Aron released the following statement:

“It is a serious disservice to the American people to renominate scores of individuals who were not confirmed to the federal bench last year. This list includes many people whose nominations were divisive and controversial for reasons ranging from their lack of experience, to their lack of judgment, to their hostility to equal rights for their fellow Americans. It includes Wendy Vitter, who spread disinformation about reproductive health; Chad Readler, who played a huge role in the administration’s attempts to take health care away from millions; and Neomi Rao, who is on record blaming women for date rape. We urge the Senate not to rubber-stamp this list but to reject candidates like these who are so clearly unfit.”
