WASHINGTON, D.C., November 9 – Following today’s vote in the Senate Judiciary Committee to advance the judicial nomination of Gregory Katsas for a seat on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit – the second highest court in the land – AFJ President Nan Aron released the following statement:

“Advancing the nomination of Gregory Katsas to the federal bench is about as close as you can get to putting Donald Trump in a judicial robe. Katsas is the ultimate Trump insider. He admitted to having a hand, as Deputy White House Counsel, in a litany of unethical, unconstitutional actions taken by the Trump administration: the travel ban, the decision to roll back DACA, the sham ‘election integrity’ commission, attempts to rip contraceptive coverage from employee health plans, and more. Katsas’s complicity in these actions should disqualify him from serving on the federal bench. Yet Senate Republicans continue to rubber-stamp President Trump’s judicial picks. They should be ashamed.”
