The White House said all three of Thursday’s nominees were formally submitted to the Senate the same day. They could appear at Senate hearings as soon as next month and get confirmation votes as early as June. In a 50-50 Senate, Biden’s nominees must win Republican backing or retain unanimous support among Democrats.

Liberal groups largely cheered the nominees. The Alliance for Justice tweeted that they brought “exactly the kind of experiential diversity the courts need more of!” Demand Justice praised Washington’s Democratic senators but did not mention the New Jersey pick, whose management-side experience could draw opposition from progressives.
