The legal director of the left-leaning Alliance for Justice, Daniel L. Goldberg, has urged speed from Feinstein and Padilla, who in January filled the seat vacated by Vice President Kamala Harris.
“We’re hopeful that those senators, both of whom clearly care deeply about the courts and about our civil rights, can get their recommendations to the president as soon as possible,” Goldberg told Law360 in May. “One of the issues was obviously one senator becoming vice president and a new senator getting up to speed. But given the quantity and the importance of the state, it is imperative that both senators are working as expeditiously as possible.”
