WASHINGTON, D.C., March 22, 2019 – Following today’s announcement that Robert Mueller has completed his investigation of Russian efforts to influence the 2016 presidential elections in order to benefit the Trump campaign, AFJ President Nan Aron released the following statement:
“The Mueller report is just one piece of the puzzle when it comes to getting to the bottom of the corruption and impropriety involving President Trump, his campaign and his administration. But it’s a very important piece, and there is no question it must be fully disclosed to Congress — along with all the source documents used to produce it. Only that level of transparency will enable Congress to pursue its own investigations and get as fulsome a picture as possible of Trump’s actions during the campaign and in office. Congress does not face the constraints the Justice Department faces when it comes to allegations concerning a sitting president, and there are vast areas of Trump’s unethical behavior that are ripe for inquiry and that only Congress can pursue.”
