Washington, D.C., July 12, 2017 – Following today’s 100-0 vote in the Senate to confirm Idaho judge David Nye to a federal district court seat, Alliance for Justice President Nan Aron released the following statement:

“We applaud the bipartisan vote to confirm Judge Nye, which proves that when there is meaningful consultation between a president and the Senate on judicial nominees, the process works as intended. President Obama originally nominated Judge Nye after extensive consultation with Idaho’s two Republican senators. When President Trump renominated Nye, he was naming a person whose candidacy was the product of advice and consent as it was meant to be. We urge President Trump and Republicans in the Senate to bear this in mind for future nominations, and to seek bipartisan cooperation in the federal judicial selection process.”
