WASHINGTON, D.C., October 19  –  Following today’s party-line vote in the Senate Judiciary Committee to advance the judicial nomination of Thomas Farr for a seat on the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina, AFJ President Nan Aron released the following statement:

“Once again the GOP majority on the Senate Judiciary Committee is rubber-stamping Donald Trump’s nomination of a person with an extreme and disturbing record for the federal bench.  Thomas Farr has spent his career trying to undermine the voting rights of people of color in North Carolina.  His abysmal history of undercutting the rights of workers is another blot on his record.  We applaud Democrats who took a stand today against this nominee, and we wonder when, if ever, Republicans will say ‘enough’ when faced with a judicial nominee who is blatantly hostile to the rights of fellow Americans.”
