WASHINGTON, D.C., October 23, 2018 – Republican leadership of the Senate Judiciary Committee has scheduled yet another nomination hearing while the Senate is on recess – this time for two circuit court nominees, including Ninth Circuit nominee Eric Miller. AFJ President Nan Aron released the following statement:

“Continuing to hold these sham hearings while the Senate is in recess only serves one purpose: to ensure that Republicans can bypass any real vetting of nominees like Eric Miller. Miller lacks the support of his home state Senators, and his lengthy and disturbing record on native issues has earned him the strong opposition of the National Congress of American Indians, the Native American Rights Fund, and local tribes. Holding his hearing during an extended Senate recess makes a mockery of this nomination and the judicial selection process.”
