Schumer Is Right to Stand Firm on Judges

WASHINGTON, D.C., December 19, 2018 – Reports are emerging today that Senate Democrats, led by Minority Leader Schumer, will not agree to a year-end “package” of judicial confirmations before the Senate adjourns. Alliance for Justice President Nan Aron released the following statement:

“We are very encouraged to hear that Sen. Schumer will stand firm against any proposed package of last-minute judicial confirmations this year. The list of 2018 judicial nominees who have not yet been confirmed includes some of the Trump Administration’s most troubling choices. There are people on this list who are wholly unqualified to be federal judges, and should not be renominated. There is no reason to rush forward to confirm all the remaining nominees now in the lame-duck session, when the Senate can return next year to deliberate on each of them individually.”
