Special Counsel Appointment Is “Important” Step

Washington, D.C., May 17, 2017 – In response to the announcement that the Department of Justice has chosen former FBI Director Robert Mueller as a special counsel to investigate possible ties between the Trump campaign and Russia, Alliance for Justice President Nan Aron issued the following statement:

“We applaud the selection of Robert Mueller to act as a special counsel investigating possible ties between the Trump campaign and Russia. This is an important step that AFJ has previously called for, and Mr. Mueller brings experience and strong credentials to this role. Now it is of the utmost importance that the administration give him the authority and the resources he needs to conduct a truly independent and thorough investigation.”
