WASHINGTON, D.C., July 30, 2018 – Following today’s Senate vote to advance the nomination of Britt Grant, Donald Trump’s nominee for a seat on the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, AFJ President Nan Aron released the following statement:

“Britt Grant has a problematic record on civil rights, women’s rights, health care, workers’ rights, and more. As a federal judge, she would threaten rights and freedoms for millions of people within the Eleventh Circuit. What makes this all the more troubling is that the current Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, has called Grant a ‘superb’ Solicitor General of Georgia, giving his stamp of approval to every harmful attempt she made to curtail people’s rights. We are seeing our federal judiciary being hijacked top-to-bottom by the far right, with consequences that will hurt us all for years.”
