WASHINGTON, DC, June 18, 2020 – Today the Senate voted largely along party lines to confirm Justin Walker to the United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. This vote came despite Walker’s egregious record opposing the Affordable Care Act, his nakedly partisan comments during his investiture, and his extreme views on executive power.

Alliance for Justice President Nan Aron released the following statement:

“The nation has spent the past three months coping with a deadly pandemic, a massive economic fallout, and fresh voices decrying police brutality and racial injustice, but Mitch McConnell’s priorities have never changed. He only cares about rigging the bench with young, unqualified, ultraconservative ideologues like his protégé Justin Walker. We know from Walker’s record that if given the opportunity, his response to today’s crises would be to strip health care from millions of Americans and empower the president’s extreme reactions to peaceful protesters. Every Senate Republican who voted for Walker knowingly abandoned the health and well-being of their constituents, and we won’t forget it.”
