On October 20, 2021, Alliance for Justice hosted our Boldly Forward event and was joined by Stacey Abrams, Emily Bazelon, Michele Goodwin, Chris Hayes, DeRay Mckesson, and Elie Mystal. We were also thrilled that Speaker Nancy Pelosi stopped in for a surprise tribute. This year’s event paid tribute to Nan, founder and former President of Alliance for Justice (AFJ). She stepped down from the organization after 42 years of unparalleled determination and visionary leadership. It also served as part of our Boldly Forward campaign, which is designed to honor the incredible achievements of AFJ under Nan while ensuring that AFJ’s critical democracy-building work will move boldly forward into the next decade under our new President, Rakim Brooks.
