Emily Harting

Director of Foundation Relations

Emily Harting joined the Alliance for Justice in May 2022 as the Director, Foundation Relations. In this role she is responsible for stewarding, cultivating, and growing the portfolio of generous foundation supporters that make AFJ’s work possible.

Before joining the organization, Emily founded EBH Development Consulting where she assisted numerous nonprofit organizations in building their communications and development plans. In addition, during this time she served as the Interim Director of Foundations and Grants at PEN America and prior to that, the Interim Associate Director, Foundation Relations at Demos. Before founding EBH Development Consulting, Emily was the Director of Development and Communications for Literacy Partners and Citizens Union, both in New York City. Before these roles, Emily was the Associate Director of Development at the Center for Constitutional Rights (an AFJ member) for over a decade where she more than doubled the foundation support for the organization’s work during her tenure. Early in her career she held development and communications roles at Global Nomads Group, the National Voting Rights Institute, and the Trust for Public Land’s New England Regional Office.

Emily has a BA from Trinity College (Hartford, CT) in Political Science, with minors in Women’s Studies and Environmental Studies. In her free time, Emily enjoys travel, cooking, container gardening, and spending time with her rescue dog and cat in her home city of Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn.
